Hybrid Solar Oven
A hybrid solar oven is exactly what it sounds like. It's a technology that harnesses both energy from the sun, and from some other source
- usually one of the more conventional electricity sources. Specifically, it's similar to a solar box cooker, but with a back up power source for days that are cloudy and also for nighttime cooking. In this way, they are more dependable than
solar ovens that rely only on solar energy.
No More Free Energy
However, hybrid solar ovens are not as cost effective, as solar energy alone is completely free. They also are not as environmentally friendly, as when it is cloudy and solar energy is not powering the oven, they use conventional electricity, which are non-renewable and generally produce carbon emissions. However, for those who do want a more reliable
solar-powered oven, with no fear of intermittent energy loss, a hybrid solar oven is a great compromise.
