Solar Roof Shingles

Clean, Green and Visually Un-obtrusive

Not only does photovoltaic solar technology come in solar panel form, but it can also be discreetly disguised on a rooftop as shingles. Solar shingles are designed in the same manner as regular shingles, except that instead of just protecting the roof of your home, these flexible solar shingles can help to power your home!

Used in either residential or commercial settings, solar shingle installations size and power output will depend mostly on the user's needs. However, they are usually discreetly nailed in place (over top of 30lb felt sheeting) on your roof in with your conventional shingles. In order to blend in easier, several brands of solar shingle even make the shingle face granular in texture like that of a normal shingle. Unlike regular shingles, however, solar shingles have electrical lead wires extending into the home beneath to provide electricity. The shingles are also usually designed so that they provide power when there is partial shading.solar shingles

Benefits...

A fully integrated solar-shingle roof has many benefits. Along with providing you a free source of electricity that's eligible for government rebate in most countries, substantially cutting your electricity bills, and increasing the value of your home, solar shingles are also pollution free. There also should be no worries about whether solar shingles are as durable as conventional ones. They are, and most can stand up to 80 mph wind loads. Also, most solar shingles come with a manufacturer backed warranty of at least 4 or 5 years. Generally the material used to make the pv cells used in solar shingles is silicon mounted on stainless steel sheet metal, which is obviously very durable and appropriate for housing construction.
